Hora Eclipse is a folkdance camp that includes not only fabulous dancing
but also the incredible opportunity to experience a total eclipse of the Sun!
A Hora Eclipse dance weekend takes place whenever and wherever there’s a total solar eclipse in an accessible place (and where there's a great dance community)! The first Hora Eclipse was in 2017 near St Louis MO. “Virtual” Hora Eclipse 1.5V took place, well, virtually, in Chile and Argentina. Hora Eclipse 2, in 2024, was in Bruceville TX.
And now, in 2028, we're getting ready for Hora Eclipse 3 in the land-down-under... in Sydney Australia! We are THRILLED to be building on the wonderful and welcoming energies of the Sydney and Melbourne dance communities, to create a dance camp that combines the best of both hemispheres! Our venue (near Sydney) has a fabulous dance floor and is directly in the path of totality (that's a really important thing when you're viewing an eclipse)!
In addition to all the dancing you’ll do during
Hora Eclipse 3, we’ll have opportunities for you
to learn about eclipses and how to safely see
and truly feel all the cool things that happen
during a total solar eclipse. (That’s right -
you can actually FEEL it.)
For those coming from abroad, we will arrange optional tours to see the sights in-and-around Sydney before or after Hora Eclipse 3, so you can get the most out of your trip to Australia. There will also be options for your non-dancing companions during the camp so they'll have something fun to do while you're dancing the days and nights away!
We'll be filling the site with more information over the next months (and years!), including which choreographers/teachers will be joining us at Hora Eclipse 3, details on accommodations and pricing, specifics on optional tours we'll offer, and more!
